Future of remote work
Everyone is speculating how future of remote work will look like after pandemic is over. But there is hardly any place where you can get a practical idea about how it will pan out. Well, last week, Sid Sijbrandij, CEO of GitLab which is fully remote organisation, wrote a brilliant thread on this. Given, he built GitLab fully remote from starting and has been running it for several years, I could not think of a better person to write on this.
Twitter & Trump
Well, this week will be remembered for long time in discourse over hate speech censoring over internet. Twitter took on none other than President of United States and censored his tweet, alleging inciting violence. We can all debate whether it was right or wrong, but it is a monumental moment for people who are actively looking at how conversation around censoring hate speech evolves.
Startups & Failure
These two terms are not much talked together on internet, but in real life, they are together 90% of the time. Gagan Biyani, wrote about his start Sprig and how it shutdown. It is a good story to read for people who are starting up, lots of important lessons there.
API as a marketplace
API as a marketplace is an exciting avenue, which I am personally looking forward at. It is more of unbundling of various building blocks of businesses & their processes. More about it is explained in this article.
Drug Design
When this pandemic started, I spent a lot of time thinking how can drugs for this take timeframes in the range of 6-18 months. It is because of a lot of verifications & running tests. And how can this be made fast, Data Science, and for doing data science you need accurate data. A16Z’s latest investment in Insitro is their commitment at creating such systems in place. Vijay Pande, explains in twitter thread their rationale behind backing them.
Thanks for reading, I will be back next week, with snippet of my favourite top 5 happenings.
Stay Safe.
